Global Architecture:
Picturesque Pagodas

In the spirit of Chinese New Year, kids will learn about Poy Gum Lee, the architect who influenced Chinatown, and build their own pagodas.
Sat, Jan 21, 2023

In honor of Chinese Lunar New Year, join us to talk about Poy Gum Lee, a Chinese-American architect who designed buildings in both China and New York’s Chinatown. We’ll learn about “Chinese Art Deco”, the style he popularized in the 1950s, and where we can see his influence in Chinatown today! Then, kids will build and decorate their own pagoda towers inspired by traditional Chinese architecture. Recommended for ages 7-12.

This is an in-person children's program that meets at the Skyscraper Museum, 39 Battery Pl.

You must reserve a place for your child/family by clicking the RSVP button above. This will forward you to Eventbrite for sign-up. After registering, you will receive emails to confirm your attendance through a Google Form (you only need to fill this out once). If you do not confirm attendance by the Friday morning before the program, your places will be canceled. Every child should be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Family programs are free! Reservation priority is given to The Skyscraper Museum members. Want to become a member? Winter programs are supported by a Community Partnership with the Battery Park City Authority.
