Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
The PIF Tower, popularly known as the Capital Market Authority Tower, is an office tower located in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia and the country’s largest city, with a population of 7.68 million. The tallest building in Riyadh at 385 m. /1,263 ft., the PIF Tower was designed as the centerpiece of the newly-developed King Abdullah Financial District Complex. Although the PIF Tower topped-out in 2014, progress was stalled and it is expected to open in 2020.
Architect HOK incorporated high-tech features designed to decrease the effects of solar gain, including solar shading and photovoltaic solar collection to reclaim energy. These solutions are integrated into the angular panels of the façade, which were inspired by the complex’s master plan’s call for crystalline structures. The PIF Tower is expected to achieve LEED Gold Certification.
