The Abu Dhabi Plaza is a complex located in Nur-Sultan, a city of over one million people and the capital of Kazakhstan. Previously named Astana, the city was renamed after Kazakhstan’s former president Nursultan Nazarbayev on March 30, 2019. This Central Asian country is largely agricultural while also having a thriving oil and gas industry and vast mineral resources. The modern part of the city was planned after Nur-Sultan became the capital in 1997.
Scheduled for completion in June 2020, the 88-story tower will be the tallest building in Central Asia at 1,253 ft / 382m. The centerpiece of a 5-building complex, including two office towers, a hotel, a residential tower, and a retail podium, the central skyscraper is sheathed in a reflective glass facade with a distinctive striped pattern down two sides of the building. The entire development will include 568 apartments, 190 hotel rooms, and 100 serviced apartments, The developer, Aldar Properties, is an international real estate development, management, and investment company with headquarters in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
