Tianjin CTF Finance Centre

Tianjin, China

Planned as a new landmark in the Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA), one of the first state-level economic and technological development zones, Tianjin CTF Centre is a skyscraper that anchors for the larger expansion of the city. With a population of over 13 million, Tianjin is the largest coastal metropolis in northern China. The building is developed by Chow Tai Fook Enterprises Ltd., a Hong Kong conglomerate that plays a leading role in the Jewelry market in mainland China.

Designed by American architectural firm SOM, the super-tall skyscraper will house office space, luxury serviced apartments, and a hotel. The floor plans are squares with rounded corners, offering a flexible interior space for occupants and a dynamic form to reduce wind forces. In response to seismic concerns, eight sloping columns locate behind the bent elevation to increase the strength and stiffness of the structure. The building’s gently undulating glass presents a bold expression of unique and integrated design on the Tianjin skyline.
